Our Favorite Pictures

Free as the wind! Biking on Drayton Drive on Kevin's bike.

Erin's resting place at Austin Memorial Park in Austin. The Crepe Myrtle in the background shades it so nicely now. It was planted 5 years ago.

Megan and Kevin receive Erin's diploma to a standing ovation at SMCA graduation in May 2005 at St.  Edward's University auditorium, one month after Erin died.  A friend captured the Aura (white spheres) in this photo.  We felt certain Erin was there that day.  One empty chair with a white rose for Erin was included in the student section.  She was also awarded the Crusader Award posthumously that day.

Erin also was an artist and created numerous works of mixed media art as well as drawings and sketches.  Here are a few of them, plus additional images we thought you would enjoy.

Erin's Tree

Picture
Name plaque on Erin's Texas Red Oak planted at Old Settler's Park in Round Rock.
Picture
Same tree plaque from above. We thought it was taken from Erin's tree but it reappeared after 3 years at the foot of her tree. An Erin-wink!

When Erin was in Texas Children's Hospital in Houston for her Autologous Stem Cell Transplant (very similar to a bone marrow transplant without a donor), May 12-July 5, 2005 she spent most of her free time when she felt well enough drawing these sketches.  Each of her classmates and friends at St. Michael's Catholic Academy had made simple doodles in a small sketch book for her before she left for Houston and she transformed each one into an amazing picture.  At first glance these may look like simple drawings, but when you realize each was created with just a simple doodle of lines and swirls on a page and then elevated by Erin's imagination, they become quite amazing.  This book is cherished by her family!
